Opening PhotoShop (or other program) just to pick a color can be tedious. Who wants to wait for programs to load just to find the right color? Enter: Online Hex Color Selectors.
Here are a few of my favorite ones:
4096 Color Wheel
This interactive selector provides a bonus feature. When you click a color, it saves it in the left column, allowing you to select multiple colors and grab the hex codes when finished. It also tells you which colors are considered “web-safe” – which isn’t as much an issue today as it was years ago, “web-smart” and “unsafe”.
WebFX Color Picker
Use this tool to select complementary, triade, tetrade and analog colors. It returns booth HEX and RGB. It also allows you to add colors to a saved list. When finished, just click each color for the values.
Colors on the Web
This site boasts tons of information – all about color. Several tools are available to help you pick color schemes, themes and complimentary colors.
HTML Color Codes
A resourceful site that walks you through color selection. Check out the various charts, some of which include color names.
Colors play a key role in web design. Even slight changes can be the difference between engaging content and a boring experience.
