Technology is supposed to make our lives easier, but it’s no surprise  that many executives claim they’re actually working harder than ever  before. Perhaps they’re just not using technology to their advantage.

If you have a Palm Pre or Palm Pixi, the rewards for time investment  are quite rich – the devices are fully functional when it comes to  handling communications, interacting via social media and keeping  track of what to do and what’s been done.

Here are 10 ways to simplify your life – starting now – with a webOS device.

  1. Create To-Do lists. You know, all the things you keep saying you’re going to do but never start because they aren’t staring you in the face? The fact is, when we write (or type) things down, we’re more apt to act. With a list at our fingertips, the chances of us addressing those items greatly increases.
  2. Catch up on ever-important email anywhere. webOS features a  simple, yet stable email application. You can even sync email using IMAP so you can always keep a backup on the desktop computer. And,  yes, you can manage multiple accounts, even Gmail. Not that one should  have to be working at all times, but being able to handle the morning’s messages  while taking the train or having breakfast at the local coffee shop  can make the work day’s start easier.
  3. Free Music Ringtones app for webOS

Ringtones aren't just for fun - they can let you know just who's calling. The Free Music Ringtones app by James Harris gives you access to millions of them.

  4. Assign photos to contacts. All the cool pics you’ve taken can  be assigned as contact identifiers. If you’re Palm houses a slew of business contacts, chances are, at one time or another, you’ve  forgotten the face that goes with the name. Since we are, by nature, very visual, photos can serve as great reminders and even trigger  topics of conversation.
  5. Assign unique ringtones. With the Free Music Ringtones app you have access to millionsof songs – all free. So, go ahead, assign 9-to-5 to your boss, I Will Always Love You to your honey, and Bohemian Rhapsody to your college buddy. Ringtones are not only fun, but you don’t have to look at your device to see if it’s an important call. Stop fumbling for your phone while next in line at Starbucks (it just holds up the line).
  6. Check the news. There are a slew of free news apps available  for webOS. Choose the one that tickles your fancy. Double bonus on this: With info at your fingertips, it’s easy to excuse yourself for a  moment – little do they know you’re playing catch-up.
  7. Create a Shopping List. For work, for home, for any event – creating a list means you’re less apt to overlook necessities. The Shopping List app will quickly convince you it’s a few bucks well spent.
  8. Manage your Twitter account. I use TweetMe because it’s visually appealing and packs some cool features, allowing you to favorite tweets, see details on your account and receive notifications when @mentions and direct messages are received. But there are several Twitter apps for webOS – I recommend you read reviews and checkout screen caps of each of them before making a decision.
  9. Get creative – and more organized – with visual notes. I just can’t give the Notes app enough thumbs up. Being able to package images with comments is a huge plus. It’s going to come in really happy when holiday shopping gears up.
  10. Put oft-used web site bookmarks in the launcher. Tired of  opening the web app to access Gmail or your corporate site? In the Web app just tap Web > Page > Add to Launcher. Voila. Single-tap access.
  11. Use notifications. Palm webOS’ built-in email app, as well as  many communications apps, can alert you when messages arrive. Notifications stay on the screen until addressed, so there’s less  chance of having to deal with “emergencies” later.
