Site Analysis

How idiot-proof is your store? Is it visually appealing and easy to navigate? Just how many sales are you losing?

Each year I address shopability issues at the Miva Merchant conference, where store owners and site designers put their online stores on the hot seat for a quick, no-holds-barred commentary on design, navigation, checkout flow and information.  While these sessions – usually lasting just 15 minutes or so – are a good starting point, an in-depth shopability and usability analysis is key if you plan to take advantage of the majority of visitors and increase conversion rates.

Why You Need an Analysis
Whether you designed and maintain the site yourself, or hired a seasoned developer and designer, a fresh pair of eyes will find issues often overlooked by those “so close” to the functionality and layout of the store. Also, by discussing your key goals, I can focus on issues that might not have been a factor previously.

What’s Included
After taking some time to understand your product line and target audience, I shop your online store, looking for common pitfalls and less common snafus.  The goal is to provide information and guidance to help you convert more visitors to customers. I’m looking for key elements: instruction (guidance), product placement, design flow and ease of navigation. I place test orders and study supporting pages (privacy policies, etc.).

You’ll be provided with a complete report, which includes:

  • Notes on your site’s functional design, including screenshots and graphical explanation when necessary
  • Information on where beginning users may be stumped while shopping
  • Recommendations on increasing the store’s usability for both seasoned and new online shoppers
  • Recommendations on add-on features and/or design tweaking

Pricing Scheduling
There are three levels of pricing:

Standard Analysis – $295: Includes up to 20-minutes of pre-discussion about your goals and target audience (you can also email descriptive desires in advance to the call); an in-depth analysis report (usually 20-30 pages in PDF format); and 15-minute follow up call upon request.

Standard + Consult Analysis – $395: Includes all of above plus two 1-hour sessions, which you may choose to use before or after analysis, so long as it’s used within 30 days.

Advanced Analysis + Stats Study – $545: All of the Standard Analysis, plus study of Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools data to determine problem spots. You should be running Google Analytics (with Webmaster Tools turned on) for at least 30 days before analysis so a decent amount of data is available. I can help you activate this free service in advance.  Up to 2 additional hours of on-phone discussion at a reduced rate of $50/hr.

What’s Included
You may order your analysis direct by using PayPal. If you prefer to pay via direct credit card, you may pay via my company site at DesignExtend.com.
