Still think you should invest in a mobile app for your local business? Or that a mobile site isn’t necessary? Think again. SEO firm BrightLocal re-conducted a 2013 survey, whereas they asked 900 consumers about mobile usage and preferences when looking for products or services using mobile devices.
Not surprisingly, the #1 business type was restaurants, followed by general stores, doctors and clothing shops. Only 10% of them preferred to navigate mobile apps for a business’ information (menus, product lines, pricing, etc.). This isn’t much of a trend change – in 2013 it was only 11%.

Before you say that most of your customers just call, realize that a good many diners and consumers rely on mobile sites and maps to find things to do on-the-fly.

And, finally, the BIG change: Only 17% of respondents were okay with a business not having a mobile site (compared to 53% just two years ago).

Still think your local business doesn’t need even the most basic, mobile-ready website? Yeah, I didn’t think so.
