Every new subscriber to your email list should receive verification. Typically this is in the form of an email that first thanks the subscriber, and then highlights any key points, such as a current sale, links to a community, and details on how to get in touch.
Welcome emails can actually help convert shoppers. This is dependent upon what is marketed in the mailing. Take note, word choice is key. This infographic from Easy-SMTP (ReachMail) gives some great tips!
A few insights about this infographic:
- While using the word “Save” in the subject may result in less opens in general, users prompted to signup to receive a coupon are more apt to open the welcome email to obtain the discount code.
- While using a “noreply” address is a bad practice for any email, a real name may not make much difference from email accounts like sales@ or news@. The idea is to convey that if a subscriber replies to mailing it will be read.
