Social media networks are ever-changing. Not only in features, but also in the audiences that use them. The top trend over the last year has been the growth of image-focused social networks β particularly Pinterest, Instagram and Snapchat β among specific demographics. Facebook was once a top-choice for college-aged users, but now they’re flocking to more visual networks like Instagram, Vine and Snapchat.
It’s important to focus on the right social networks when trying to reach your target audience. A recent report from BI Intelligence shows the latest trends when it comes to who is using which social platform.
The study shows that the most visual and “quick to scan” formats attract the youngest audiences, while more detailed platforms cater to users aged 25 and up. With all the gaming going on, it’s interesting that Facebook is falling toward the bottom of the list when it comes to targeting teens and college students. This doesn’tΒ that companies targeting the younger demographics should ditch Facebook marketing, but they certainly shouldn’t ignore the more popular networks for that age group.
